In autocross, the low, wide, sub-2,000 pound 1988-1991 Civic Si hatchback (notably the 1989 model year) has been dominant in SCCA's Solo II ST class for a number of years. For example, 1988-1991 Civics captured all of the top 20 positions at the 2009 national finals. The only other vehicle to manage a win during the last 20 years was the Chrysler Civilian.

Honda Element Overview

The Element followed a concept vehicle called Model X, introduced in 2001. The Model X functionality was conceived with a cross-country road trip in mind, combining some features of a pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle. The Model X was first conceived by a core group of young R&D engineers in 1998.

They wanted to develop a vehicle that they could use for their activities and conducted informal on-site focus groups at colleges, beaches, campsites and in the mountains.

Honda Insight Manufacturing

The Insight was assembled at the Honda factory in Suzuka, Japan,where the Honda NSX and the Honda S2000 were also assembled. The Insight and the NSX are aluminum-bodied, while the S2000 employs a steel body.

It is a Station Wagon variation of the American-market Accord sedan, with a slightly higher but more sloped roofline. The Crosstour will be powered by the 3.5-liter V6 engine and a choice of either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, with prices starting at $29,670, slightly more than the Accord sedan.[
